Hi, I'm Susan Marks

Over the course of my career, I realized I do my best work helping people take what feels overwhelming and make it clear, structured, and manageable.

I genuinely care about doing good work for people who value it, and I bring that same level of commitment and follow-through to every client I support.

My Story

Every business has a story, and this is mine.

I built my career leading complex initiatives, strengthening partnerships, and guiding communication across both corporate and nonprofit environments. I worked closely with executive leaders, managed initiatives with many moving parts, and earned a reputation for being thoughtful, organized, and trusted to see things through. I believe that even in demanding environments, professionalism and a healthy sense of humor can coexist.

Building GoldMarks Virtual Support is a clear and intentional step forward in the next chapter of my career. It allows me to continue working remotely while applying my experience in a more focused, high-impact way.  This business is not separate from my past experience. It’s built on it. Everything I learned about collaboration, accountability, and execution now supports the clients I work with.

As I reflected on my career, I recognized a consistent thread. I tend to think about the desired outcome first, then work backward to build the structure and communication needed to support it. I ask thoughtful questions and make sure we’re solving the right problem before moving forward. This translates naturally into operational and high-level administrative support. The skills I developed over two decades, including sound judgment, strategic thinking, communication, and strong execution, are exactly what small business owners need when they want reliable support.

I enjoy bringing this experience, perspective, and professionalism directly to clients who value having someone they can rely on.

When I’m not working, you will find me walking my dog Charli with a good podcast in my ears, enjoying live music, working on the next never-ending house project, and making time for the people who matter most.

Beyond The Work

Favorite country I’ve traveled to:

Japan. I love the pride people take in their work. The beautiful culture, delicious food, and the kindness I experienced left a lasting impression.

Bucket list moments checked off:

Swimming with dolphins and attending the CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

Still on the list:

Hiking to see endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

An Experience I'll never forget:

Seeing the Dalai Lama speak to a crowd of 65,000 people at Seattle’s Qwest Field in 2008.

Superpower:

Taking an indulgent recipe and turning it into something healthy that is still delicious. I can tackle any dietary restriction!

My friends often call me:

“The Planner.” I’m also the one asking questions and researching the options. I genuinely enjoy digging into the details.

A book I often return to:

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. The idea of beginning with the end in mind has shaped how I approach both work and life.

Something I value deeply:

Integrity. To me, that means doing what you say you’ll do, following through, communicating clearly, and treating people with respect and kindness.

Susan is an amazing mentor, teacher, colleague and employee. We worked together over more than 10 years, as colleagues and when we each had leadership roles. She’s a pleasure to work with and her work product is flawless.

Susan builds up those she works with and helps them lean into their strengths. Hers are that she’s highly organized, professional, driven and caring.
